Betsy Arant

Betsy Arant grew up in the Midwest and spent several years in New Orleans, where she fell in love with costume-making and community-centered art. She's happiest when collaborating and helping people follow their creativity, even (especially) when they don't think of themselves as artists. Most of her work is in the form of installations, costumes, and sculptures created with found objects and natural materials. She believes that the act of making art is one of the greatest challenges to oppression.
