Abstract Painting Introduction - The Magic of Composition
Are you interested in abstract art, learning to create it, and what makes some abstract art more successful? It is possible to be more intentional with making abstract art!
What IS abstraction, even? We often think that some designs are random when we see abstract art, thinking “I could do that” or, “even my KID could do that!”
Discover and create some “uniquely you” answers to these investigations as we learn about a variety of underlying designs in abstract art.
This workshop has a little bit of lecture and discussion, coupled with several creating abstract compositions... with plenty of inspiration to get us going.
Bring a light lunch or snack. No experience needed! Space is limited.

Cyanotypes: Printing with Light
Cyanotype: A photographic blueprint.
Cyanotype is a 170 year old photographic printing process that produces prints in a distinctive dark greenish-blue. The word “cyan” comes from the Greek, meaning “dark blue substance.”
Fun fact: the color of cyanotypes resembled the uniforms of the Prussian Army, and so was created the color Prussian Blue! No darkroom is needed, instead it uses the power of the sun and iron salt solutions rather than the silver salt solution of black and white photography.
Learn the entire process of creating cyanotypes using cyanotype chemicals, found objects from nature (you can bring some favorites), and the sun!
Bring a light lunch or snack! No experience necessary.
